Grounding Everything You Need To Know

Grounding is a process that “grounds” or connects you to the earth. It is said to have various benefits. People believe that the world contains a positive electric charge that gets transferred to us. Electrical charges in the earth can have a grounding effect on the body. This form of grounding is not the same type of grounding that is used in mental health treatment. There are multiple illnesses today, both psychological and physical.

How To Perform Grounding

When there is either direct or indirect contact with the earth, it is called grounding. The recommended time is around thirty minutes to begin, and you can increase this time later on. There are a few different ways to ground yourself.

Walking Barefoot-

There is something very calming about walking barefoot. Whether it is on sand, grass, or mud, our feet are quite sensitive, and letting them touch the ground can give you grounding energy.

Lying On The Ground-

This process is very satisfying. One can choose to lie on sand or grass, and as a bonus, you can look at the sky, which is something you should do once in a while. Just be aware of where you lie and make sure nothing may cause harm to you while you lie.

Submerging In Water–

Some people say water may be used the same way as the earth is used. You can walk into the water body and swim in it or stay afloat. Just be aware when you swim in deep waters where visibility may not be right. You may get your legs stuck in weeds, and that would make it difficult to get to the surface.

You can use grounding equipment like grounding mats, grounding sheets, grounding blankets, and even special shoes for grounding. These products are available online.

Benefits Of Grounding

Grounding is not well researched, but people who try it claim to have lots of long-term benefits. Grounding is something that you have to try to see the benefits. You cannot read about it on paper.  The importance of grounding is as follows.

Fatigue–

People who try grounding have seen a reduction in fatigue in as low as four weeks. Only stopping our thought process and being aware of our surrounding area can help reduce tiredness and make us feel active.

Anxiety And Depression–

Mental health is a massive problem in the world today. Grounding can help to improve mood and reduce anxiety and depression. The process of getting away from our busy lives to be in nature can help to remove unnecessary anxiety and depression.  It may reduce stress-related hormones like cortisol.

Sleep–

It can stop sleep disorders and improve the quality of sleep, improving every part of your life because if you sleep better, you will be well-rested to tackle your day and solve problems better.

Cardiovascular Diseases–

It can reduce blood pressure and hypertension.

Chronic Pain-

You can reduce chronic pain by practicing grounding in a positive state of mind and body to heal yourself better.

Problems Of Grounding

As good as it is, you should do many of these practices in nature, and you need to be careful of what could harm you because if you are not mindful, it could lead to severe problems and risk your life. There could be animals or insects that may bite or sting.

The use of poles and wires could lead to an electric shock, and they may not be as effective as being in nature on the grass, sand, or water. Suppose you have problems like depression, heart problems, or anxiety. In that case, you should consider consulting a doctor and not merely relying on grounding because you may need medical help and have to go under treatment. Other than this, grounding does not have any significant disadvantages.

Where To Practice Grounding

You can do grounding both inside closed spaces as well as outdoors.

Outdoors- Grounding is easy to do outdoors to connect easily to the earth with the ground, sand, water, etc. Being in the presence of nature can make this process easier.

Indoors- This usually requires equipment. You can use grounding sheets or socks to keep you grounded throughout the day. Grounding indoors can help with the problems of being vulnerable in the environment because you can be in the safety of your home to carry out the grounding process.

Conclusion

Grounding is something you should try and not merely dismiss without giving it a chance but no matter where you do grounding, always be aware of your surroundings. The potential benefits outweigh the cons. Being a part of nature is something we can all do more.

We wear shoes a lot, which does not let us have the electric impulses from the ground. People no longer sleep on the floor either. Merely being in touch with the earth and nature could do so much for us, then we ought to try it out and see for ourselves what benefit it may have in our lives.
